Softball ends regular season with split

BETHANY, Okla. (May 1, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team split wins with Southern Nazarene University in Saturday's double header taking the first game 9-6 before losing the second 8-3.

Game 1

The Lady Eagles scored three runs in the first inning to take an early advantage over the Crimson Storm.

DaVee Croy hit a triple before Kayla Jennings followed with a home run to score them both. Deidre Chatigny later singled out to left field allowing Amy Urbanovksy to head home for the score.

Southern Nazarene cut the Lady Eagles' lead to one with two scores of their own in the second inning leaving OC with the 3-2 advantage.

The Lady Eagles added two more runs to the board in the fourth to again increase their lead to three runs. Ashley Calles made the first score when Christin Dobbs made it on base with a fielder's choice. Amber Canady followed with a ground out that sent Lauren Walk home for the score.

Heading into the fifth inning, the Lady Eagles held the lead at 5-2.  SNU made up the difference in the sixth when Keli Billups hit a three run homer to tie up the game.

The game remained tied at 5-5 after the seventh taking the game into extra innings. The Lady Eagles managed to score four runs to SNU's one in order to claim the win.

Taylor Renshaw hit a double to right field to drive home Urbanovsky for the first score. Walk followed with a home run to send in Renshaw for two more scores. After doubling, Dobbs made it home after Canady singled and was put out on her way to second.

The Lady Eagles took the game 9-6 with Walk leading at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Leigh Leonard pitched the complete game to record the win with two strikeouts and five earned runs.

Game 2

The Lady Eagles took the early lead again in the second game with two runs in the first. Urbanovsky hit a double to drive in Canady and Dobbs to make the score 2-0.

The Crimson Storm responded with a run in the bottom of the inning and then scored five more runs over the next three innings to lead the Lady Eagles 6-2 heading into the fifth.

After a scoreless fifth inning, the Lady Eagles got on the board one last time with a second home run from Jennings to make the score 6-3.

SNU scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning to increase their lead to 8-3 for the final decision.

Dobbs led the Lady Eagles at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run scored while Canady chipped in with 2-for-3 succes and a run scored.

The Lady Eagles finished out regular season play 26-29 overall with a 15-21 conference record.
