OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (March 30, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team took down Rogers State University in Tuesday's doubleheader as they earned 10-6 and 13-7 victories over the Lady Hillcats.
Game 1
The first game between the Lady Eagles and the Lady Hillcats saw both teams lead more than once as they each exchanged blows. Rogers State put up a score in the first inning to take the early lead before OC responded with a run of their own.
DaVee Croy made the first score for the Lady Eagles on an error that allowed Amy Urbanovsky on base.
In the third, the Lady Hillcats sent another runner home to again take the lead by a single run. In the bottom of the inning, however, the Lady Eagles drove three runners home to take a 4-2 lead heading into the fourth.
Christin Dobbs hit a single to drive home Ashley Calles before Croy hit a double that sent Deidre Chatigny and Dobbs across the plate.
Following a scoreless fourth, both teams registered three scores in the fifth to leave the Lady Eagles ahead at 7-5. Calles hit a triple to score two of the runs for the lady Eagles as Urbanovsky and Kayla Jennings were both driven home. Calles then made her way home on the next batter when Chatigny connected for a single.
Although the Lady Hillcats scored another run in the sixth two come within one, the Lady Eagles responded with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to lead 10-6 heading into the final inning.
Jennings hit a single to send home Amber Canady and Croy for two scores before Taylor Renshaw singled to drive in Urbanosky for the third.
The Lady Eagles made three quick outs to seal the victory at 10-6 over RSU.
Dobbs, Croy, and Jennings all went 3-for-4 at the plate with Croy and Jennings each tallying two RBI. Amber Canady added to the mix going 2-for-3.
Leigh Leonard earned the win for the Lady Eagles pitching a complete seven innings and tallying nine strikeouts.
Game 2
In the second game, the Lady Eagles took the lead in the second inning and never gave it up. RSU was the first to score as they tallied two runs off the bat, but OC tied it up with runs from Dobbs and Canady oh an RSU error.
The Lady Eagles gapped the Lady Hillcats in the second with four runs to take to a 6-2 lead. Calles and Chatigny both made it home on a double from Dobbs before Canady hit a homer to send Dobbs in as well.
Jennings hit a homerun in the third to put the Lady Eagles up 7-2.
The Lady Eagles tallied four more runs in the fourth inning to increase their lead even further with runs from Dobbs, Canady, Croy and Urbanovsky.
Heading into the fifth the Lady Eagles led 11-2 before allowing RSU to score five runs between the fifth and sixth innings. The Lady Eagles tallied two more in the bottom of the sixth on a single from Dobbs that sent home Renshaw and Calles.
The Lady Eagles finished out the game with the 13-7 victory over the Lady Hillcats.
Dobbs led at the plate going 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Jennings went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI while Canady went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.
The Lady Eagles, now with 11 straight victories, advance their record to 17-13 overall and 7-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The OC squad will head to Lubbock, Texas to play Lubbock Christian University on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
