Lady Eagles take double header from RSU

CLAREMORE, Okla. (April 24, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team won both games against Rogers State University in Saturday's double header as the Lady Eagles won the first game 7-6 prior to winning the second 7-4.

Game 1

Up to bat first, the Lady Eagles catapulted into 4-0 lead to start things off. After each singled, Christin Dobbs and Deidre Chatigny both scored on an error that allowed DaVee Croy to make it to third base off a single. Amy Urbanovsky drove Croy home off a single to left field before heading in herself on a single from Taylor Renshaw.

Despite the 4-0 lead, the Lady Hillcats cut it down to a one point advantage as they scored three runs in the bottom of the inning.

In the third, each team sent one runner home for a score to leave the Lady Eagles still with a one point advantage at 5-4. Urbanovsky registered the score for OC off another single from Renshaw.

Rogers State took the lead for the first time in the game in the fifth inning when they scored two runs to make the score 6-5.

The Lady Eagles responded with one run in both the sixth and seventh innings to earn the one run victory at 7-6.

Dobbs scored in the sixth on an error and Ashley Calles hit a home run in the seventh for the win.

Urbanovsky and Renshaw each went 3-for-4 at the plate and tallied one and two RBI, respectively.

Leigh Leonard brought home the win as she finished out the final 2.2 innings, allowed no runs, and pitched six strikeouts.

Game 2

The Lady Eagles responded late in the second game as they earned the win in the final inning.

RSU took the early lead scoring two runs in the first inning and another in the second to lead 3-0 heading into the third.

OC did not get on the board until the fourth inning when Croy hit a two run homer to make the score 3-2.

In the fifth, Dobbs sent home Michelle Miller for the tie at 3-3.

The Lady Hillcats regained their lead in the sixth with a single run but was not enough as the Lady Eagles exploded with four of their own in the seventh.

Croy tallied two more RBI on a triple before Kayla Jennings cranked out a two run homer to give the Lady Eagles a 7-4 victory.

Croy led the Lady Eagles going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Chatigny went 3-for-4 with two runs while Jennings went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Leonard pitched the complete game to record her second win of the day while registering five strikeouts in the process.

The Lady Eagles improve to 24-27 on the season and 13-19 for the conference.

OC will finish out their regular season next Saturday against Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) on the road in a double header starting at 1 p.m.
