OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 19, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team took two victories from their double header against Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Tuesday winning game one 10-2 and game two 11-8.

Game 1

In game one against the Lady Rangers, Northwestern Oklahoma grabbed the first lead with a single run in the first. The Lady Eagles responded with a single run in the bottom of the inning, however, when Sarah Peoples hit a triple and then headed home on a wild pitch to tie things up at 1-1.

Following a scoreless second, the Lady Eagles tacked on two more runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead. Kayla Jennings sent home Deidre Chatigny with a single for the first run before Davee Croy scored on the next at bat when Taylor Renshaw hit a sacrifice bunt.

During the top of the fourth, NWOSU put up another run to trail OC by a single run, but the Lady Eagles again responded with a run of their own. Michelle Miller registered the score heading home on a bunt from Peoples.

Leading 4-2, the Lady Eagles held the Lady Rangers in the fifth and then blasted the NWOSU defense in the bottom of the inning with five runs to take a seven-run lead at 9-2.

Croy was the first to cross the plate doing so on a single from Renshaw. On the next at bat, Jade Tallbull fired a homer over the fence to send in Renshaw and score two for the Lady Eagles. Three batters later, Leigh Leonard blasted a home run as well to send home Lauren Walk and put OC up by seven.

A final run from Croy in the sixth ended the game an inning early with a 10-2 run rule victory for the Lady Eagles.

Croy and Renshaw each went 2-for-3 during the game while Renshaw recorded three RBI and Croy made three scores. Leonard pitched through all six innings and tallied seven strikeouts on her way to the win.

Game 2

The Lady Rangers started things off once again with a single run in the first to take the early 1-0 lead. Despite such, the Lady Eagles put up two runs in the bottom of the first to lead by one heading into the second. Peoples was the first to round the bases making it home on a sacrifice fly from Croy. Chatigny scored the second run on a single from Renshaw.

After no runs in the second, the Lady Rangers blasted a five-run inning in the third to take a 6-2 lead over the Lady Eagles.

In spite of such, OC refused to back down as they followed up with a seven-run inning in the fourth to regain the lead at 9-6. Miller was the first to score doing so on an error. Walk was the next to make it home scoring on a single from Chatigny and was followed Leonard on the next play when Croy hit a single.

Continuing the assault, Jennings fired a sacrifice fly to score Peoples who was followed by Chatigny on Renshaw's single. On the next at bat, Tallbull singled driving home both Croy and Renshaw to put OC up by three.

In the fifth, the Lady Eagles put up two more runs to further the gap. Pinch runner Megan Bray scored on an error while a Jennings single drove in Croy to make the score 11-6, OC lead.

A final effort from the Lady Rangers in the seventh cut the OC gap to three, but it was not enough as the Lady Eagles claimed the 11-8 victory.

Renshaw led at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Peoples and Chatigny helped out as well with 2-for-3 and 2-for-4 respective hitting. Ashley Paxton pitched the complete game to earn the win while throwing five strikeouts in the process.

The double header brings the Lady Eagles to a 35-12 overall record and to 16-8 for conference play. On Saturday the OC softball team will close out their regular season with a double header at home against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma starting at 1 p.m.
