Lady Eagles seize two from OBU

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (March 23, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team registered 7-2 and 3-1 victories over Oklahoma Baptist University in Tuesday's doubleheader at home.

Game 1

The Lady Eagles took no time getting on the board as they tallied four runs in the first inning to take a lead the Oklahoma Baptist women could not make up.

Christin Dobbs was the first to score after being batted in on a double from DaVee Croy. Croy followed with a score when Taylor Renshaw was hit by a pitch. Amy Urbanovsky made it home on a single by Kayla Jennings who was followed by Ashley Calles on a Deidre Chatigny single.

Up 4-0, the Lady Eagles held the Lady Bison scoreless until the fourth inning when OBU tallied a lone run. OC followed with a three run retaliation in the bottom of the inning.

Dobbs and Croy mirrored their first inning when Croy sent Dobbs home on a double to left field. Croy also made a second score when Urbanovsky connected on a single. Calles brought home the final run when Miller doubled.

The Lady Eagles gave up an additional run in the fifth before finishing the game with a 7-2 victory.

At the plate, Croy led the Lady Eagles going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Jennings hit a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI while both Dobbs and Urbanovsky hit 2-for-4.

Leigh Leonard pitched a complete game from the mound tallying nine strikeouts and only allowing two runs.

Game 2

In the second game, the Lady Bison got on the board first with a run in the second inning. The Lady Eagles weren't able to respond until the bottom of the third when Dobbs scored on a single from Urbanovsky to tie the game at 1-1.

The Lady Eagles kept OBU from scoring again but the game held tied up until Croy hit a homer in the fifth to put OC in the lead 2-1.

In the bottom of the sixth, Renshaw hit another homer for the Lady Eagles to give a cushion heading into the final inning. After OC held the Lady Bison to another scoreless inning, the Lady Eagles took the second game 3-1.

Dobbs and Croy led at the plate each going 2-for-3 with a run while Croy added an RBI.

Sophia McKean pitched the entire seven innings and registering two strikeouts while holding the Lady Bison to a single run.

With the two victories, the OC softball team holds a 10-15 record and are 3-6 for conference play.

The Lady Eagles head to the road to play the University of Science and Arts on Thursday in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
