SHAWNEE, Okla. (April 9, 2011) – The Oklahoma Christian softball team split their double header with Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday as they fell in game one 3-0 before taking the second 6-2.

Game 1

In the first game, a defensive standoff was seen through the first five innings, as neither squad was able to send a runner home until the Lady Bison managed to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Eagles struggled at the plate during the game as they tallied a total of four hits out of 24 at bats.

After the Oklahoma Baptist women put up a 3-0 lead in the sixth, the Lady Eagles were unable to respond in the final inning leaving the game to the Lady Bison.

Despite the loss, Michelle Miller excelled at the plate tallying three of the Lady Eagles' four hits on perfect 3-for-3 hitting.

Game 2

As the second game got underway, the Lady Bison grabbed the first lead with a single run in the first to lead 1-0 heading into the second.

Following a runless second, the Eagles retaliate with a run to tie things up at 1-1 when Deidre Chatigny hit a single to drive home Lauren Walk for the score.

An inning later, the Lady Eagles put a gap on OBU after scoring three runs to advance to a 4-1 lead. Jade Tallbull scored first on a single from Walk before Taylor Renshaw scored on the next at bat when Ashley Paxton reach base on a throwing error. Two batters later, Chatigny again hit a single to send Walk home and put OC up 4-1 going into the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, OBU put a second run on the board to cut the Lady Eagle lead to two runs before going into the sixth.

After neither squad scored in the sixth, the Lady Eagles scored two more runs in the seventh to put a four-run lead on the Lady Bison at 6-2. An error that allowed Tallbull to reach base allowed both Kayla Jennings and Davee Croy home for the scores.

OBU was unable to respond in the bottom of the inning leaving the 6-2 victory to the Lady Eagles.

Chatigny and Walk led at the plate each going 2-for-4 with Chatigny tallying two RBI and Walk registering one. Leigh Leonard took the win from the pitcher's circle throwing the complete game and allowing just one earned run.

The split brings the Lady Eagles to 31-10 overall and to 12-6 in the conference. The OC softball team will return to Shawnee for the next matchup as they take on Saint Gregory's University (Okla.) on Tuesday in a double header starting at 2 p.m.
