Eagles hold off No. 24 John Brown

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Dec. 2, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team came out on top in a last minute thriller on Thursday night against No. 24 John Brown University (Ark.) with an 81-79 victory.

The Eagles fell behind at the start of the first period as the John Brown men pushed their way to a five-point advantage during the first minutes of the game before OC was able to take their first lead at 11:20 left in the half from a three pointer by Izea Lovejoy.

Minutes later, the Eagles again yielded the lead as they fell to a six-point deficit at 21-15 with 7:48 still to play. Unable to regain the lead during the remainder of the period, the Eagles came within one point of the Golden Eagles before heading into halftime trailing by four points.

During the second period, the Eagles quickly tied things up when Devan White drilled a three pointer to leave the game at 36-36 with 18:15 left in the game.

After another tie up at 38-38, the Eagles put up a 10-0 run against the Golden Eagles to create a 10-point advantage with 14:16 remaining on the clock.

The Eagles held the lead to the end of the period, however, the Golden Eagles continued to press against the OC men and cut the Eagle lead to three points or less on multiple occasions.

The last minute of the game saw free throw after free throw as fouls ensued with the Golden Eagles vying for the win.

Despite a last second basket by the JBU men, the Eagles held a two-point advantage to claim the victory at 81-79.

Jeff Crocker led the Eagles for the night with 21 points and nine for 10 free throw shooting. Fellow guard, Devan White, put up another 13 points to add to the Eagles' total.

Eric Randall helped the OC men with another nine points during the game while Andre Vaughn, Chad Endres, and Kendre Talley each recorded seven points apiece. Will Reinke added another six points, six rebounds, and four assists to the Eagles' total.

The win leaves the OC men to a 5-2 record for the season while putting them at 1-1 for conference play.

The Eagles will join the women on Saturday as they host Rogers State University (Okla.) at home with the women scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. and the men to follow at 8 p.m.
