Eagles come up short to No. 11 Texas Wesleyan

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Nov. 6, 2010) – The No. 18 Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team fell to a 69-55 loss against No. 11 ranked Texas Wesleyan University during Saturday's Homecoming games.

The Eagles never saw the lead against the Texas Wesleyan men on Saturday after the Rams were the first to score taking a 2-0 lead. OC's Andre Vaughn tied things up with a jumper only a minute into the game. After a defensive foul by the Eagles, the Rams regained the lead and never again surrendered it.

The TWU men quickly put up a 7-0 run to take a 9-2 lead just minutes into the game. With 11:53 showing on the clock, the Eagles came back to within four points of the Rams. With another run of 8-2 against the Eagles, the Rams pushed to a 10 point lead with 8:52 left to play in the half.

With 4:05 left to play in the period, the Rams had created the largest lead of the half at 39-24 leaving the Eagles at a 15-point deficit. The Eagles cut the lead back to 10 with last minute baskets by Devan White and Ross Morrisett.

The Rams started the second half with an 11-3 run to jump to an 18-point less than five minutes into the period. Texas Wesleyan gained their largest lead of the game with 9:56 left on the clock with a 24-point advantage over the Eagles.

With 2:54 remaining, the Eagles gave it a last go with a 7-0 run by means of Kendre Talley and a last second basket by Morrisett to end the half at a 14-point deficit to the Rams at 69-55.

Will Reinke was the Eagles' go to down under as he scored 18 points on the evening, grabbed five rebounds, and made three blocks. Vaughn helped out from the swing with 10 points and four rebounds while Morrisett totaled nine points and three rebounds for the game.

Talley totaled seven points and made three steals coming off the bench.

The loss leaves the Eagles to a 1-1 season start. The OC men will join the women in hosting Langston University (Okla.) on Thursday for a double header. Tip-off for the women's game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.
