Eagles drop Langston in the Nest

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Nov. 11, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team found their step in the second half as they played to a 69-61 victory over Langston University on Thursday night in the Nest.

Early on, Andre Vaughn put up a quick nine points to help the Eagles to an 11-7 lead before an 8-0 run by the Lions left OC trailing by four. A couple trey's from OC's Chad Endres, however, put the Eagles back on top by two points before increasing the lead back to four with a basket by Will Reinke.

With 11:22 showing on the clock, the Lions began a 19-4 run to take to an 11 point lead with just 4:29 to play. In the last minutes of the period, the Eagles' Reinke and Vaughn cut the margin back to seven before the half.

From the start of the second period, the Eagles strove to regain the lead. Free throws from Jeff Crocker and critical baskets from Reinke quickly cut the Langston lead down to just three points with 16:57 remaining on the clock.

With 14:34 left to play, a free throw from Vaughn marked the start of a 19-2 run that put the Eagles up by 12, their largest lead of the game. A basket from Reinke tied things up at 45-45 before Devan White shortly followed with a dunk to take the lead and get the crowd on their feet.

The Lions came back within six points of the Eagles twice following the 12-point lead before the Eagles used the last minutes of the game to regain another 12-point margin over the Langston men. After a foul and a last minute basket from the Lions, the Eagles captured an eight-point victory at 69-61.

Reinke tore up the paint during the game as he registered a total 24 points for the evening and grabbed seven rebounds. Vaughn made an impact as well with a total of 18 points for the night while Endres drained 10 of his own and grabbed another seven rebounds for the Eagles.

Devan White recorded a nine-point game with five rebounds and three steals, while Crocker helped out with six points and kept the Eagles scoring with a grand total 14 assists on the evening.

The win brings the Eagles to 2-1 on the season before they host Central Bible College (Mo.) on Monday at 8 p.m. in the Nest.
