Sarah Peoples homered in the second game of OC's doubleheader sweep at Northwestern Oklahoma State.
ALVA, Okla. (April 17, 2012) – Oklahoma Christian rolled up 33 hits and Ashley Paxton recorded two pitching wins as the Lady Eagles rolled to a 13-0, 11-3 doubleheader sweep at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon.
Every starter recorded at least one hit in both games for OC (30-14, 11-11 Sooner Athletic Conference), which posted its second straight doubleheader sweep of a league foe.
Kendra Pierce, Kala Ratliff and Courtney Starr each had three hits to lead OC's 18-hit attack in the first game. Seven of those hits came in a six-run third inning.
OC scored four runs in the fifth and Paxton blanked Northwestern (19-16, 4-12) in the bottom of the inning, ending the game via the run rule. Northwestern starter Jasmine Braxton (5-3) took the loss.
The Lady Eagles' barrage at the plate continued in the second game. Michelle Miller went 3-for-3 as OC finished with 15 hits against two Northwestern pitches, including starter Ashton Fitzgerald (6-2).
Davee Croy, Megan Webb and Sarah Peoples each hit a home run for OC.
Paxton (13-8), who threw a two-hitter in the first game, allowed six hits in the second game along with three runs, two on a fourth-inning home run by Alyssa Taylor.
OC will travel to Shawnee to face No. 16-ranked St. Gregory's on Thursday for a doubleheader. OC and St. Gregory's split a doubleheader earlier this season in Oklahoma City.
