SILVER CITY, N.M. - Oklahoma Christian returns to the Sooner State after splitting its longest road trip of the 2025-26 season after falling to Western New Mexico, 90-77.
All five of the Eagle's starters scored at least nine points, led by
Miles Gibson with 14 on 5-of-6 shooting while connecting on all three of his free-throws.
Despite the offense from the maroon-and-gray, WNMU's offense found the upper hand, shooting 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from three, including 8-of-11 in the first half.
The Mustangs opened play with a three-pointer and hit seven more before the halftime whistle, holding a 13-point, 49-36 lead at the break.
59 seconds into the second half, a 5-0 run cut the deficit to eight, but a four-minute field-goal drought allowed Western to regain a 15-point lead. The Mustangs' continued shot making had them up 21 with 7:51 remaining in regulation.
The Eagles managed a small rally late to get it under 15, holding WNMU without a field-goal for the game's final four minutes, but the damage had been done as the Mustangs closed the night with the 90-77 victory.
Oklahoma Christian (9-7, 4-6 LSC) will return to the Payne Athletic Center for a two-game stretch against NABC Top-30 opponents, beginning with (RV) St. Mary's Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
