EDMOND, Okla. - In its first competition of the 2025-26 season, the Oklahoma Christian men's and women's swimming teams defeated Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes UT Permian Basin and Nebraska-Kearney in tri-meet action Saturday night.
The Eagle men took down UTPB, 1015-653, while the women beat both the Falcons and UNK, 943-459 and 943-660, respectively.
Oklahoma Christian opened the night winning the first six overall events, starting with both sides' 400 medley relay. For the women, OC's 'C' relay team of Blakely Shuricht,
Hailey Uhrig,
Ali Richardson and
Callie Edmonds paced 'A' relay team for the Eagles with a time of 4:04.65.
On the men's side,
Noah Rabb,
Canaan Brice,
Gui Martins and
Lamar Rodov led the way as the team's 'A' relay, touching at 3:28.67. In the first individual races of the night,
Samantha Mongillo (11:11.31) for the women and
Nathan Bell (9:56.22) for the men paced the field in the 1000-yard freestyle.
From that point on, OC won 18 more events between the two sides, with the 200 free relays putting the finishing touches on the opener. This time, the women's 'A' relay quartet of
Neyali Matos, Edmonds,
Andi Jeanes and
Vanessa Weatherford took first by over five seconds with a podium-topping time of 1:37.67.
For the men, Brice, Rodov,
Quinn Mauck and
Alec Mota took the top spot in a competitive field, outlasting UTPB's 'A' team by 26 hundredths of a second with a finishing time of 1:26.10.Â
