EDMOND, Okla. - The battle of 8-4 teams in conference play was won by St. Mary's as Oklahoma Christian dropped its first match in two weeks Saturday afternoon, 3-1.
Camryn McGough led the team with 14.0 points after recording 11 kills on a .455 hitting percentage and six block assists.
Chloe Jones saw a team-high 12 kills along with 14 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.
The pair of top-5 teams in the LSC standings backed up their positioning with long rallies and hard-fought points in the opening set. Oklahoma Christian fought tooth-and-nail to see itself within four points of taking the inaugural frame, 21-17. The Rattler offense spouted off six kills over the matches next seven points in route to a 26-24 first-set victory.
One of league's top serving teams coming into the night flexed its muscle in the second set behind four service aces as StMU took the second stanza, 25-16. Oklahoma Christian powered through to force a fourth set after 5-0 run turned a 14-14 tie into a 19-14 advantage before a eventual 25-21 triumph.
St. Mary's saw its second biggest lead of the match halfway through the final frame, 17-7, before taking the set and the match, 25-16.
Oklahoma Christian (16-8, 8-5 LSC) will taking its final road trip of the 2025 regular season when its head south on I-35 for Texas Woman's Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. before taking on DBU Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m.
