Petrin Wins U.S. Amateurs as He and Fleming Join Team USA Bowling

RENO, Nev. - C.J. Petrin and Connor Fleming of Oklahoma Christian men's bowling competed at the 2025 USBC Team USA Trials Jan. 2-7 at the National Bowling Stadium, where the duo earned two of the four automatic spots on Team USA for 2025.

Petrin's nod came after he was crowned the 2025 U.S. Amateur Champion with a total pinfall of 6673 and 105 points for an average daily finish of 21st out of 182 competitors. Petrin beat out 30 current professional bowlers in the overall standings.

In the finals, the Edmond, Okla. native defeated defending U.S. Amateur Champion Julian Salinas in a high-scoring title match, 277-265.

Fleming finished third overall with a total pinfall of 6684 and 125 points, marking an average daly finish of 25th. Following the five days of qualifying, Fleming fell in the stepladder semifinals to the runner-up Salinas before Petrin took home the trophy.

"What an awesome accomplishment for these young men," Oklahoma Christian head men's bowling coach James Hayes said. "Their hard work has paid off and I could not be more proud of them. They both have very bright futures ahead of them."

As part of Team USA, Petrin and Fleming will compete in several prestigious events all over the world year, such as the Pan American Games, PANAM Bowling Championships, International Bowling Federation World Championship and others.
