James Hayes is the first bowling coach at Oklahoma Christian, having built the club programs that began competition during the 2018-19 academic year.
In his first season at OC, Hayes guided both the men's and women's teams to the U.S. Bowling Congress' Intercollegiate Sectionals, the postseason for collegiate club bowling. The men's team won two tournaments, including the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit Championships in Shawnee, Okla., while the women took one tournament title during their inaugural season.
Before arriving at OC, Hayes spent seven seasons as the club bowling coach at Central Oklahoma and three years as the coach for Edmond Memorial High School's program.
Hayes, who bowled collegiately for Bowling Green State, also works as a petroleum geologist for Chesapeake Energy Corp. in Oklahoma City. He lives in Edmond.
