Mihaich Gives Eagles Back-to-Back Lone Star Conference Individual Champions, Leads OC to Medal Match Play

Thackerville, Okla. - No. 6 Oklahoma Christian played in the Lone Star Conference tournament that began with three rounds of stroke play. The top four teams will complete on Wednesday in Medal Match Play.

Round 1
Newcomer of the Year Leandro Mihaich started strong for the Eagles with an opening round 4-under 68. After the first round, Mihaich sat in first place with a 1-stroke lead.
 
Exequiel Rodriguez finished round one with a score of even-par and looked to make a jump in round two.
 
The Eagles rounded out their 292-round team score with Oskari Nikku and Blas Ayesa shooting an opening round 76.
 
The Eagles sat in eighth place after the first eighteen holes of the day, but the team rallied to make a run in the second round.
 
Round 2
The Eagles answered the call and fired off a team score of 286 to move up into solo third place and sitting in perfect shape to finish stroke play and move into match play.
 
Leandro Mihaich continued his excellent play to stay in first place shooting a 5-under 67 in round two, extending his lead over second place to 3-strokes.
 
Vertti Perala and Oskari Nikku both played strong second rounds to shoot even par 72 to help the Eagles shoot up the leaderboard.
 
Exequiel Rodriguez rounded out the Eagles score with a 75 and Blas Ayesa shot a 77.
 
With one more round of stroke play on Tuesday, the Eagles were in a good position to make the cut for medal match play.
 
Round 3
The Eagles cruised on the final day of stroke play, shooting a final round 288.
 
Leandro Mihaich finished strong with an even-par performance to claim a first-place finish, individually.
 
The Eagles claimed a solo third-place finish as a team with a 2-under performance from Oskari Nikku. This was also helped by Exequiel Rodriguez and Vertti Perala both shooting a final round 1-over 73.
 
This final round set the Eagles up to claim the 3-seed for medal match play that will begin tomorrow morning.
 
Up Next
The Eagles will match up with the 2-seed Midwestern State in the semifinal match in the morning. The winner will take on the winner of the other semifinal match between 1-seed Dallas Baptist and 4-seed Western New Mexico, tomorrow afternoon.
