Box Score 2 Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (8-33, -31) continued their home matchup against Eastern New Mexico (17-24, 15-24) with a doubleheader on a windy Saturday afternoon.
Game 2
Chris Jones started on the mound for the Eagles in game two. After walking the first two batters, Jones responded with three straight strikeouts to end the first inning.
The Greyhound would find a groove in their offense in the top of the second, putting six on the board.
Brenden Kirchhoff shut down the Greyhounds in the third inning, striking out the side. Kirchhoff went on to pitch two more scoreless innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, Hunter Jones sent the ball into the wind and over the wall for a home run to put the Eagles on the scoreboard. The momentum continued with Ethan Box hitting a double against the right-center wall, and Justin Spencer brought Jones home with a hard-hit ball up the middle. The Eagles would cut into the Greyhounds lead.
The Greyhounds would take the momentum back from the Eagles to put a few more runs on the board in the top of the fifth.
The Eagles would make a dent in the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run home run over the right field wall from Justin Spencer.
In the bottom of the seventh, Brandon Warwick hit a sacrifice fly into right field for his RBI of the season.
The Greyhounds finished off to take game two with a 22-6 win.
Game 3
Silas Cowgill got the start in the third game of the series and went three up, and three down as he tried to create some early momentum for the Eagles.
The Greyhounds were able to sneak in a run in the top of the 2nd on an OC fielding error. The Eagles would then respond with a run of their own thanks to a Justin Spencer double and the sacrifice fly, RBI by Ryan Carolan.
Tied 1-1 going into the 3rd, the Greyhounds put another run on the board to take the lead. OC would have another strong inning behind the plate, scoring on back-to-back sacrifice flies by Sloan Laird and Hunter Jones. The Eagles led 3-2 at the end of the 3rd.
ENMU broke it open in the top of the 4th, tallying four runs and putting them up 6-3.
An inning later, the Eagles started to chip away. After reaching on a leadoff HBP, Hunter Jones scored on the Justin Spencer RBI double. Ryan Carolan would then score 2 runs with an RBI single to shallow right field, tying it at 6-6.
With runners on first and second, Greg Maskarinec laid down the sacrifice bunt that would tack on 2 more runs thanks to an errant throw by the Greyhounds. Jadan Boyce then added an RBI double to the 5th-inning rally, scoring the Eagles' 6th run of the inning. After a Sloan Laird RBI double, a Hunter Jones RBI single, and an Ethan Box solo home run, the Eagles closed out the 9-run inning with a 12-6 lead.
After a huge 3-run home run in the top of the sixth, followed by a 4-run inning in the top of the 7th, the Greyhounds regained the lead 13-12.
The Eagles entered the bottom of the 7th trailing in a back-and-forth game. Hank Heiselbetz started OC off with a single through the right side. Representing the winning run, Sloan Laird approached the plate looking to walk it off and he delivered. The junior third baseman crushed a 2-run home run to right field to give the Eagles the victory.
