Eagles Continue Conference Play, Take on Greyhounds in Home Series

Oklahoma City, Okla - Oklahoma Christian (7-31, 7-29) will face off against Eastern New Mexico (15-23, 13-23) at home this weekend. The first pitch is set for Friday, April 12th, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday and the series finale on Sunday.

What to know about Oklahoma Christian 
  • Lonny Cobble has been the head coach at Oklahoma Christian since the school entered Division II status in 2012. 
  • OC was picked to finish 11th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll this year. 
  • Junior catcher Hunter Jones has been everything for the Eagles. Behind the plate, he is batting .342 and he leads the Eagles in on-base plus slugging percentage (1.028), runs (29), hits (40), doubles (11), triples (2), home runs (4), total bases (67), bases on balls (23), slugging percentage (.573), and on-base percentage (455). He has also been the team's leader on the defensive end, logging a team-high 209 putouts in 240 chances to go along with his .963 fielding percentage.  
  • On the bump, junior RHP Chris Jones has emerged as the team's top pitcher. He has appeared in ten games this season, recording a 4.82 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 24.1 innings pitched.  

What to know about Eastern New Mexico
  • The Greyhounds are coached by Riley Price, who is in his fifth season as head coach. 
  • The Eagles will look to take advantage of a struggling Eastern New Mexico team, who was on a 10-game losing streak before stealing the last game of their previous series against UAFS.  
  • The ENMU offense is batting .287 as a team to go along with 211 RBIs and 19 home runs.
  • The pitching staff for the Buffs has pieced together a 7.55 ERA and 254 strikeouts throughout 297 innings. Opponents are batting .306 against them.
  • Some players to watch for ENMU are junior infielder Willie Ponce and junior RHP Gavin Perry.
