Eagles Hosting Dustdevils at Dobson Field

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (3-19) is back at home, looking to get their first series win of the season against Texas A&M International (13-13). The first pitch is set for Friday, March 15th, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday and the series finale on Sunday.

What to know about OC 

  • Lonny Cobble has been the head coach at Oklahoma Christian since the school entered Division II status in 2012. He boasts a 277-271-1 record as coach for the Eagles. 

  • Last year, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 13-37 and a conference record of 13-35. 

  • OC was picked to finish 11th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll this year. 

  • Junior catcher Hunter Jones has been everything for the Eagles. Behind the plate, he leads the team in batting average (.338), on-base plus slugging percentage (1.070), hits (22), doubles (6), triples (1), home runs (3), RBIs (20), total bases (39), slugging percentage (.600), on-base percentage (.470), and sacrifice flies (1). He has also been the team's leader on the defensive end, logging a team-high 140 putouts in 161 chances to go along with his .944 fielding percentage.  

  • On the bump, junior RHP Chris Jones has emerged as the team's ace. He has appeared in five games this season, recording a 1.72 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched.  

What to know about TAMIU

  • The head coach for the Dustdevils, Philip Middleton, is entering his fourth season with the program.

  • After being picked to finish 10th in the LSC preseason poll (one spot ahead of OC), TAMIU has exceeded expectations as they sit 13-11 in conference play and are currently #6 in the LSC.  

  • The Dustdevil offense is batting .301 to go along with 160 RBIs and 27 home runs.

  • The pitching staff for the Dustdevils has pieced together a 7.09 ERA and 207 strikeouts throughout 203 innings. Opponents are batting .292 against them.

  • Some players to watch for TAMIU are junior third baseman Abiam Medina and Senior RHP Isaac Ponce.
