Eagles Return Home to Take on the Chaps

Oklahoma City, Okla - Oklahoma Christian (3-11) will be back at Dobson Field to take on Lubbock Christian (9-7) for their second home series of the season. The first pitch is set for Friday, March 1st, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday and the series finale on Sunday.

What to know about OC 
  • Lonny Cobble has been the head coach at Oklahoma Christian since the school entered Division II status in 2012. He boasts a 277-263-1 record as coach for the Eagles. 
  • Last year, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 13-37 and a conference record of 13-35. 
  • OC was picked to finish 11th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll this year. 
  • Junior catcher Hunter Jones has been everything for the Eagles. Behind the plate, he leads the team in batting average (.326), on-base plus slugging percentage (1.057), at-bats (46), hits (15), doubles (5), triples (1), RBIs (14), total bases (28), slugging percentage (.609), hit-by-pitches (2), and sacrifice flies (1). He has also been the team's leader on the defensive end, logging a team-high 98 putouts in 111 chances to go along with his .946 fielding percentage.  
  • On the bump, junior RHP Chris Jones has emerged as the team's ace. He has appeared in three games this season, recording a 2.70 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.  

What to know about LCU
  • The Chaps are coached by Nathan Blackwood, who is 757-351 over 21 years as head coach at LCU. 
  • Coming off of a strong season where they finished 35-23 overall and 29-19 in the conference, the Chaps are looking to build on last year's success. 
  • LCU was picked to finish 4th in the LSC preseason poll, but the Chaps have struggled to get some traction with losses in 7 of their last 11 games.   
  • The LCU offense is batting .314 to go along with 108 RBIs and 22 home runs.
  • The pitching staff for the Chaps has pieced together a 7.93 ERA and 97 strikeouts throughout 126 innings. Opponents are batting .290 against them.
  • Some players to watch for the Chaps are senior shortstop Carson Ogilvie and Senior LHP Aydan Alger.
