Eagles Travel to San Antonio for Second Away Series of the Year

Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (2-8) will head down to St. Mary's (TX) (5-8) to take on the Rattlers as they resume conference play. The first pitch is set for Friday the 23rd, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday and the series finale on Sunday.

  • Lonny Cobble has been the head coach at Oklahoma Christian since the school entered Division II status in 2012. 

  • Last year, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 13-37 and a conference record of 13-35.

  • Hunter Jones and Naut Kragt were picked as players and pitchers to watch. 

  • Last year, Jones had a .374 hitting average, with 23 RBIs and 2 home runs. In the field, Jones had a .978 fielding percentage with 187 putouts and 35 assists. 

  • Naut Kragt is a transfer from Hill Community College, who has appeared in three games so far for the Eagles and leads the team in strikeouts at 13.

  • The Rattlers are coached by Frank Kellner, who is 5-8 at the start of his first season as head coach. 

  • Last year, St. Mary's finished with an overall record of 25-27 and 23-25 in the conference. 

  • STMU was picked to finish middle of the pack, landing at 7th in this season's Lone Star Conference preseason rankings. 

  • Sophomore transfer Garrett Brooks and senior closer Andrew Girod were selected as the StMU Players to Watch. 

  • Girod has appeared in 3 games this season, recording 4 innings pitched thus far. He holds a 2.25 ERA to go along with 6 strikeouts. 

  • Brooks has had a hot start to the season and was named LSC & NCBWA Hitter of the Week after his four home runs and 13 RBIs in one week. The sophomore outfielder had seven hits and scored four runs in the Rattlers' wins over UAFS and Our Lady of the Lake. His dominance behind the plate includes a three-run homer in the seventh inning against UAFS and a grand slam against Our Lady of the Lake. He also did not make an error in the field.
