Eagles and Bronchos to Play Home and Home Series This Weekend

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (2-6) will head down the street to face off against its city-bordering rival, Central Oklahoma (9-0), on Saturday, February 17th at 3 p.m. They will then turn around and host the Bronchos at home on Sunday, February 18th, at 3 p.m.

What to know about OC 
  • Lonny Cobble has been the head coach at Oklahoma Christian since the school entered Division II status in 2012. 
  • Last year, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 13-37 and a conference record of 13-35. 
  • Eagles picked to finish 11th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. 
  • Hunter Jones and Naut Kragt were named as the LSC players and pitchers to watch. 
  • Last year, Jones had a .374 hitting average, with 23 RBIs and 2 home runs. And in the field, Jones had a .978 fielding percentage with 187 putouts and 35 assists. 
  • Naut Kragt is a transfer from Hill Community College who has thrown in 7 innings and recorded 9 strikeouts.
  • After dropping their last series against UAFS, the Eagles will be looking to bounce back against Central Oklahoma.

What to know about UCO 
  • UCO is coached by John Martin, who is in his ninth season leading the Bronchos. The Kansas native is 254-148-1 during that span. He has won one MIAA title (2018) and made three NCAA national tournament appearances (2017, 2018, 2019).
  • The Bronchos have gotten off to a hot start and are sitting at 9-0 on the season. After going undefeated in the 2024 Edmond First Pitch Classic, they turned around, sweeping Arkansas Monticello in a four-game series and then put up 18 runs to nothing against out-of-conference rivals ECU.
  • Central Oklahoma is batting .265 as a team with a .409 on-base %, putting them at 4th in the MIAA.
  • The Bronchos can attribute a lot of their success to their dominance on the mound, as they boast an MIAA-leading 2.35 ERA as a team.

Last years matchups
  • The Eagles matched up with the Bronchos once last season at Wendell Simmons field, and No. 10 UCO jumped out to a 6-0 lead before winning 7-2.
