EDMOND, Okla. - The Oklahoma Christian men's and women's swimming programs hosted its annual Eagle Invitational Nov. 15-17 at the Mitch Park YMCA, where the women broke three school records and took first place with team score of 902. The men placed second with 739 points.
Women
The Oklahoma Christian women highlighted the three-day event with breaking three school records.
Tammy Greenwood continued her stellar sophomore season with breaking the 50-yard freestyle school record with a first-place time of 22.78.
Vanessa Weatherford also broke what was the previous school benchmark, touching the wall at 23.34.
Weatherford and Greenwood were a part of another school record, starting and anchoring, respectively, the 200 free relay with Calle Edmonds and
Laura Byars. The quartet set a new school time to beat at 1:33.98, which is currently the third fastest time in NCAA Division II this season.
Greenwood had one final school record in her, breaking the 100-yard backstroke as the lead-off leg in the 400 medley relay, taking her opening 100 at 55.39. With that time currently the fourth fastest in DII, Greenwood earned herself an NCAA 'B' cut.
Men
Eli Rollen was the story of the weekend for the men, finishing no worse than second in every race he competed in across the three days. Rollen topped the podium in the 200Â IM (1:48.41), 100Â backstroke (48.95) and 200 back (1:49.37). An NCAA 'B' cut was awarded to the Merritt Island, Fla, native with his 200 IM performance.
Nathan Bell followed Rollen's showing with two of his own individual wins in the 500 free (4:30.55) and the 1650 free (15:46.91). Bell's 'B' cuts came in both showings as Bell's time in the 1650 is currently the fourth fastest in DII.
First-year Eagle Jarrod Arroyo claimed a win in the 400 IM with a time of 3:54.84 as the second fastest time in the country and worthy of an NCAA 'B' cut.
