EDMOND, Okla. - In Oklahoma Christian women's volleyball's home opener, the Eagles won just their second set ever in five all-time meetings with No. 9 West Texas A&M before the Lady Buffs prevailed, 3-1.
Chloe Jones and
Riley Daugherty were the lone Eagles to claim double-digit kills, 12 and 10, respectively.
Avery Cole delivered her second straight 10-kill match while hitting a highly efficient .500 from the floor.
West Texas A&M scored the first two points of the night before OC (9-7, 1-4 LSC) remained in lock step with the No. 9 in NCAA Division II. As the set wore one, WTAMU paired three points to the Eagles' one as Oklahoma Christian came up shy in the opening frame, 25-20.

Asa Freeman's bunch opened a 10-point lead on West Texas A&M to bring the tally to 22-12 - their largest deficit in LSC play this season.
Oklahoma Christian's debut home crowd carried the team to what was just its second ever set win over West Texas A&M. The dropped set proved to be WTAMU's only set loss in conference play through five league matches.
With the match tied 1-1, West Texas opened the third frame with 9 of the first 12 points. The Eagles were unable to get within five the rest of the way as the Lady Buffs retook the overall match lead, 2-1. Oklahoma Christian opened the fourth strong with an early lead, but a 6-0 burst fueled the fourth-set win for the visitors, 25-16.
Oklahoma Christian will hit the road one more time this month when it takes on the conference's newest member, the Sul Ross State Lobos, Saturday, Oct. 12, before playing eight matches inside the Payne Athletics Center over the next two weeks.
