WICHITA, Kan. -Â No. 24Â Oklahoma Christian women's bowling headed up to Wichita, Kan. for the Mid-States Championship hosted by Wichita State and Newman University for their season opener on Oct. 19-20.Â
Day OneÂ
OC brought their varsity team for the Mid-States Championships as they looked to reclaim the crown after winning it in 2022. The Eagles needed to finish in the top eight after qualifying in order to make matchplay.Â
After the first day of qualifying, Oklahoma Christian was sitting in seventh in the 26 team field, rolling a team total of 5,307 with 16 baker games to bowl in day two and climb in the standings for matchplay.Â
Day TwoÂ
After the 16 baker games, OC finished qualifying in eighth spot as they were able to squeak in to match play.Â
The Eagles faced off against No. 1 seed and defending national champions Wichita State. After five hard fought games, Oklahoma Christian fell to the Shockers, 3-2.Â
Thoughts From Coach HayesÂ
"This was our first tournament of the year and it is always good to see what we need to improve on," Hayes said. "We have two weeks to get ready for our NCAA opener."
Up NextÂ
The No. 24 OC women will take next week off before heading to Houston, Texas as they bowl the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State on Nov. 1-3.
