ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Oklahoma Christian women's swimming program went 2-0 on this week's road trip to Natural State after picking up a 121-81 victory against Henderson State Saturday afternoon. The men, however, fell to the Red Wave, 134.5-69.5.
Women
As it did Friday against Ouachita Baptist, OC's 200-yard medley group opened the meet with a first-place finish as
Tammy Greenwood, Haily Uhrig,
Vanessa Weatherford and
Laura Byars finished at 1:49.32.
Grace Bourque followed the quartet with a second-place nod in the 1000 freestyle as to put the Eagles ahead, 17-16.
With the meet tied after the third event, Oklahoma Christian regained the lead with a nine-point, first-place individual finish from Weatherford (24.79) in the 50 free. The Eagles got a big boost moments later in the 100 butterfly, recording three of the top four finishers, including
Jadie Brister (1:01.36) in first.
After HSU found its own big boost in the 100 free, Oklahoma Christian came through and swept the top three spots in the 100 backstroke with Greenwood (57.56),
Callie Edmonds (1:02.34) and
Lainy Lewis (1:03.76). Byars (5:21.77) and
Samantha Mongillo (5:24.62) followed that by one-twoing the 500 free for another seven-point cushion.
In the final individual event of the day, Uhrig headlined the 100 breaststroke with a finishing time of 1:05.71, preceding
Andrea Paradis (1:09.34) and
Grace Cooper (1:09.91), who came in at second and third, respectively.
The women's 400-yard free completed a perfect 4-0 week for the Eagles as Weatherford, Edmonds, Byars and Greenwood closed the day's events with a first-place 3:39.28 time.
Men
Victor Rosado claimed the first win of the night for the men, taking first in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.81, followed by
Eli Rollen taking first in the 200 IM (1:56.08).
Rollen added a second individual victory to his day, touching the wall first in the 100 backstroke at 51.53 before, for the second time in as many days,
Nathan Bell won the 500 free with a time of 4:42.98.
