Eagles Down the Tigers in Five Sets, Davis Breaks Her Own School Record

ADA, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (10-8, LCS 3-3) traveled down to Ada to take on the Tigers of East Central (8-11, GAC 3-4) as the Eagles kicked off their week break off of conference play with a win. 

SET ONE: OC 25 - ECU 21

In set one, Annie Davis led the way with seven of the 16 kills the Eagles had to take the set. The Eagles hit a team percentage of .406 compared to the Tigers' .242. 

SET TWO: OC 22 - ECU 25

The Tigers managed to grab the lead early in the set and held off the late push by the Eagles to tie the match at one set apiece. 

SET THREE: OC 25 - ECU 19 

In set three, led by junior Emma Strickland, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead, managing a four-point lead to 8-12 before the Eagles would mount a comeback lead by the serving of Giorgia Turri

SET FOUR: OC 20 - ECU 25 

In a back-and-forth battle for the fourth set, the Eagles were able to see many girls in the rotation make plays but fell short of the late push by the Tigers to claim set four. 

SET FIVE: OC 15 - ECU 9 

The Eagles shut down the Tigers and claimed the victory in the fifth set, led by Annie Davis and Rainey Aven

NOTES 

  • Annie Davis broke her own and the school's record for kills in a game with 26. Davis also finished the game with an incredible .538 hitting percentage and accounted for 29 of the Eagles points. 

  • Lauren McClure continues to be a huge part of the Eagles' offense, adding 31 assists, bringing her total to 431 assists for the season with at least 11 games left. 

  • Camryn McGough helped the Eagles to victory, with 7 kills, 2 aces, and 9 block assists.

  • Rainey Aven had a double-double with 16 assists and 10 digs.

The Eagles will travel to Durant, Oklahoma, on Saturday, October 14th, to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State starting at 3 p.m.
