Grand Rapids, Mich. (August 1st, 2022) - Incoming freshman Kaylee Back from Derby, Kansas, finished 4th at the Junior Gold Championships youth tournament last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Junior Gold Championship is the biggest youth tournament in the country, featuring 3,300 male and female youth bowlers competing across four different age divisions. 
 
There was a total of 570 girls in Kaylee's under 18 division, and after sixteen games, Kaylee was in 8th place, averaging 203.56 pins per game. 
 
Those who advanced played in two rounds that included five games each. After those ten games, Kaylee was in 7th place, averaging 198.77 pins per game for the 26 games. This mark qualified Kaylee as the #7 seed for the double-elimination bracket matchplay. 
 
The matches in the bracket play portion of the event would consist of two games, total pinfall being the winner. Kaylee won her first match over the #10 seed 425-362 but lost her next match to the #2 seed 360-354, putting her down in the contender's bracket.
 
The next day, Kaylee won her first match of the day over the #15 seed 433-410, and she won her second match of the day over the #3 seed 375-247. In Kaylee's third match of the day, she got redemption over the #2 seed that she lost to the previous day by winning 423-397, moving her into the contender's bracket final match. Kaylee's impressive run ended in the semi-final match, giving her a 4th place finish in Grand Rapids.
