Meets in 6 (maybe 7) states on OC swim schedule for 2022-23

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 5, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian's swimming teams will compete in at least six states – and hopefully seven – during the 2022-23 season, according to the schedule announced Sunday by coach Josh Davis.

After an intrasquad meet at the Eagles' home venue – the Mitch Park YMCA in Edmond – Sept. 2, OC will open its season at home on Sept. 24 with the fourth annual Sam Freas Invitational, an event named in honor of the late swimming coach at Oklahoma Baptist.

OC will make what has become an annual trip to Arkadelphia, Ark., for duals on Oct. 7 at Ouachita Baptist and Oct. 8 at Henderson State.

The Eagles will make the program's first trip to St. Louis on Oct. 21-22 for a three-way meet against the event's host, NCAA Division I Saint Louis, and Division II power McKendree (Ill.). OC again will face Division I competition the following week in a three-way meet in Dallas against host Southern Methodist and Incarnate Word on Oct. 29.

The annual Eagle Invitational in Edmond, which will close the first-semester schedule, is set for Nov. 10-12.

The Eagles will compete in a dual on New Year's Day at Rollins (Fla.) in Winter Park, Fla., near Orlando, then will finish January with two more duals in Springfield, Mo., facing William Jewell (Mo.) on Jan. 27 and another top-five Division II program, Drury (Mo.), on Jan. 28.

As in recent years, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships again will be hosted by Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction, Colo., this time from Feb. 8-11. Should OC again qualify swimmers for the NCAA Division II Championships, the national meet is set for March 8-11 in Indianapolis.
