OKLAHOMA CITY (June 27, 2022) – After 10 seasons in pro baseball, former Texas Tech standout pitcher Duke von Schamann is returning to college and will serve as a graduate assistant coach for Oklahoma Christian, OC head coach Lonny Cobble said Monday.

Cobble was von Schamann's coach at Edmond Santa Fe High School, from which von Schamann graduated in 2010. The pitcher signed with Texas Tech, posting an 11-4 record with a 2.67 ERA during the 2011 and 2012 seasons before he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball draft the latter year.

From 2012 to 2015, von Schamann spent time in both the Dodgers' and the Cleveland Indians' minor-league systems, reaching the Triple-A level in 2014 with Cleveland.

Since 2016, he's played independent pro baseball, most recently with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League. This season, he was 2-2 with a 6.37 ERA.

He's the son of Uwe von Schamann, a former standout kicker for Oklahoma's football team who later played for the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
