COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 6, 2022) –
Andrew Ehler and
Micah Young represented Oklahoma Christian on the 10-man Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic list for swimming, which was released Thursday.
To qualify for the honor, an athlete must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average, have been a student at his institution for at least two semesters and used a season of competition during the academic year in which the award is earned. Sports information directors from RMAC institutions vote to determine the first-team list, with the award based on both academic and athletic results.
Ehler, a junior Mechanical Engineering major from Oak Point, Texas, finished in the top eight in the RMAC Championships in Grand Junction, Colo., in February in the 1,650-yard freestyle (fifth, meeting the NCAA Division II B time standard), 400 individual medley (fifth) and the 200-yard backstroke (seventh).
The past two years, Ehler was on the RMAC's All-Academic Honor Roll.
Young, a senior from Olympia, Wash., returned to the OC roster this season after sitting out the 2020-21 campaign. He was the RMAC's Summit Award winner in 2020, an honor given to the student-athlete competing at the RMAC meet who has the highest grade-point average. Young finished his college career with a perfect 4.0 GPA in Mechanical Engineering.
During the season, he posted career-best times in the 50 freestyle (22.99 seconds), the 100 freestyle (49.38 seconds) and the 200 freestyle (1:48.80).
He also made the RMAC All-Academic first-team list in 2020 and appeared on the Honor Roll in 2019.
