OC women just miss out on advancing in ISC Sectional Qualifier

DALLAS (March 11, 2022) – Two Oklahoma Christian bowlers finished in the top 15, but no Eagles advanced out of the Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectional Qualifier, held Friday at USA Bowl.

The top five players in the 121-woman field earned berths in the ISC national event, to be held next month in Addison, Ill. OC never has had a female bowler advance to the ISC in the four-year history of the program.

Bowlers rolled six games to determine their overall score. OC sophomore Morgan Pelkie of Sarnia, Ontario, rolled a 235 in her first game and was on the cusp of the top five for most of the day. She was seventh after four games and eighth after five games, but wasn't able to make up the gap in the final game. She finished 11th with a score of 1,216.

OC freshman Shelby Davis of La Porte, Texas, finished 14th with a score of 1,186. She rolled four games of 200 or higher, topped by a 218 in her opening game.

Six other Eagles competed in the qualifier.

The Eagles now will turn their attention to the Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectional Qualifier, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at USA Bowl, as they see to advance to the ITC, to be held April 22-23, also at Stardust Bowl in Addison.
