OC women again make sectional field, seeded 21st nationally

ARLINGTON, Texas (Feb. 23, 2022) – For the fifth time in as many seasons, Oklahoma Christian's women's team qualified for collegiate club bowling's postseason, earning a spot in the Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier in Dallas next month.

OC is seeded 21st among 66 teams who made the field and will be one of 13 teams who will play March 12-13 in the sectional qualifier at USA Bowl in Dallas. The top four teams will advance to the ITC national event, set for April 20-23 at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill., near Chicago.

"I could not be more proud of these athletes and their accomplishments this year," OC coach James Hayes said. "We still have a lot of work to do before then if we want to make it to the ITC. These athletes are more than capable and continue to impress."

No. 1 seed Wichita State will be the highest-seeded team in the Dallas sectional qualifier. Also in the field will be No. 4 Webber International (Fla.), No. 10 Midland (Iowa), No. 12 Newman (Kan.), No. 19 Ottawa (Kan.), OC, No. 22 Sam Houston State, No. 26 Grand View (Iowa), No. 30 Stephen F. Austin, No. 37 Morningside (Iowa), No. 44 Tulane, No. 56 Kansas Wesleyan, No. 63 Iowa Central Community College and No. 64 Saint Mary (Kan.).

The Eagles have two top-five finishes this season in Tier I events, taking fifth in the Mid-States Championships in Wichita, Kan., in October and tying for third in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational in December. OC also has a pair of runner-up finishes in Tier II events.

The day before the team sectional qualifier begins, March 11, the Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectional Qualifier will be held, also at USA Bowl. The top six players from that event will advance to the national ISC event.
