Liberty Pierce, Oklahoma Christian's women's bowling team posted a strong 18th-place showing in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic, which ended a two-day run on Sunday at Stardust Bowl.
In the deepest field they've faced this season – 57 teams – the Eagles posted a team score of 8,224 over five team games on Saturday and 20 Baker games on Sunday. On Sunday, they recorded four games of 200 or better, topped by a pair of 231 scores in games one and eight.
Pierce, from Kingwood, Texas, posted a score of 1,066 over her five individual games on Saturday, recording single-game scores of 245, 235 and 210.
Claire McDermott, an OC sophomore from Harrisburg, Ill., had a game of 215 while rolling up a five-game total of 960, good for a 59th-place showing in the 354-woman field.
Morgan Pelkie, a sophomore from Sarnia, Ontario, placed 127th at 893, rolling games of 213 and 203.
Jordan Corbett, a freshman from Owasso, Okla., also rolled games of 216 and 221 for the Eagles.
Jessica Flanagan,
Shelby Davis and
Sarah Young also each rolled at least one game for OC during the tournament.
Mount Mercy (Iowa) won the event with a score of 9,461. Jenna Williams of Mount Mercy topped the individual standings with a score of 1,194.
The Eagles will be back in action next weekend, playing in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit V tournament at USA Bowl in Dallas on Saturday and the SWIBC VI tournament at Plano Super Bowl in Plano, Texas, on Sunday.
