COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 13, 2022) – For the fourth straight month, Oklahoma Christian's men's swimming team is ranked in the NCAA Division II coaches' poll compiled by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches of America.
OC checked in at No. 17 in the January poll, which was released Thursday. The Eagles were at No. 13 in the December poll and haven't competed in a meet since then. OC was No. 18 in the preseason poll before moving to No. 20 in the November poll.
In their most recent meet, the Eagle Invitational held Nov. 11-13 in Edmond, Okla., five OC swimmers recorded a total of 10 Division II B qualifying times. Freshman
J.T. Amrein recorded the fastest times in the nation to that point in three events (the 200-yard individual medley, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke) and junior
Brandon Heredia posted the fastest time in Division II to that point in the 200 freestyle and the No. 2 time to that point in the 100 freestyle.
The Eagles, coached by
Josh Davis, are one of three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams in the top 25, joining No. 4 Colorado Mesa and No. 21 Colorado School of Mines.
The top 10 consisted of Indianapolis (Ind.), Queens (N.C.), Drury (Mo.), Colorado Mesa, McKendree (Ill.), Lindenwood (Mo.), Grand Valley State (Mich.), Florida Southern, Delta State (Miss.) and Wingate (N.C.).
OC will host NAIA opponent Sterling (Kan.) in a dual meet on Wednesday in Edmond. The Eagles will swim against William Jewell (Mo.) in a dual on Jan. 28 before taking on Drury the next day. Both those duals will be in Drury's pool in Springfield, Mo.
The RMAC Championships are scheduled for Feb. 9-12 in Grand Junction, Colo.
