GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 30, 2021) – For the first time, Oklahoma Christian's team was named this week as a recipient of the American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award.

To be eligible for the ABCA award, a team must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and its head coach must be an ABCA member. The Eagles, coached by Lonny Cobble, posted a team GPA of 3.077.

OC was one of 77 NCAA Division II programs on the honor list, with five of those teams coming from the Lone Star Conference.

Members of the baseball team during the 2020-21 academic year included Kevin Collyar, Grant Lake, Drew Wright, Cole Lee, Brendon Bavester, Austin McCain, Robbie Suhr, Tanner White, Jordan Kennedy, Hugo Kinebuchi, Gabe Rodery, Julien Ly, Brent McDonald, Garett Boone, Grayson Swanson, Coleton Hinkle, Jaren Hill, Jacob Mattox, Bob Britton, Chase Berberich, Chance Westervelt, Cody Johnson, Ryan Walden, Michael DiFiore, Blake Empkey and Kaden Kirby.

Other team members included Jake LaMar, Ty Dudley, Ryan Hill, Hayden Barber, Zach Sanchez, Elijah Woods, Noah Bates, Michael Ferraro, Errett Edwards, J.T. Grizzell, Casey Minchey, Jaden Skupien, Kanaikai Gaughen, Jace Edelen, Nick Allison, Hayden Boyd, J.T. Hester, Robert Hodges, Kohl Kirby, Kiefer Massey, Remington Plattner, Dakiya Shaw, Aiden Suarez, Josh Tefft and Jake Williams.
