GOLDEN, Colo. (May 10, 2021) – Losing three of its four games last week cost Oklahoma Christian in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II South Central Region poll, which was released Monday.

OC (24-14) dropped one spot to sixth place, with Colorado-Colorado Springs (25-9) moving up into the No. 5 spot. OC lost 11-2 at Central Oklahoma in a nonconference game on Tuesday, won 11-7 at Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Friday, then lost 23-13 and 9-1 to LCU on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to close the regular season.

Before last week, the Eagles had won 15 out of their last 17 games to move up in the NCBWA poll, which is voted on by a committee of 12 sports information directors from schools in the two leagues that make up the region – the Lone Star Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Colorado Mesa (33-3) continued to top the poll, with West Texas A&M (31-5) second, Angelo State (Texas) (34-6) third and Metro State (Colo.) (32-8) fourth. After UCCS and OC came Texas A&M-Kingsville (20-10), Texas-Tyler (25-15), St. Mary's (Texas) (22-18) and Regis (Colo.) (17-15). Lubbock Christian (19-21) received votes but didn't crack the top 10.

OC will host St. Mary's in a best-of-three LSC first-round playoff series this weekend. The Eagles and Rattlers will play Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m., with the if-necessary game to follow.
