LAWRENCE, Kan. (March 14, 2021) –
Morgan Pelkie and
Emily Tripp each posted a top-15 individual finish to lead Oklahoma Christian to a fourth-place finish in the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge II tournament on Sunday at Royal Crest Lanes.
OC used a strong performance in the Baker-game portion of the one-day event to move up to a fourth-place finish in the 14-team field. The Eagles' score of 6,532 trailed only Wichita State at 7,040, Baker (Kan.) at 6,681 and William Penn (Iowa) at 6,681.
In the individual portion of the tournament, Pelkie, a sophomore from Sarnia, Ontario, finished 12th among 124 bowlers with a four-game score of 762. She rolled a 210 in game two and a 204 in game three.
One spot behind her was Tripp, a sophomore from Cabot, Ark., who rolled a 222 in game four to jump to 13th with a 760 score. Two other Eagles rolled all four team games – freshman
Jessica Flanagan of Lavaca, Ark., who was 28th at 716, and sophomore
Sarah Young of North Richland Hills, Texas, who was 36th at 690. Both had a high game of 190.

Athena Walker of McKinney, Texas, also rolled individual games for the Eagles.
OC stood fifth after the four team games with a score of 3,578, but gradually gained ground during Baker games, passing Lindenwood (Mo.) to move into fourth during the second set of those games.
The Eagles' next tournaments will be the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit III and IV events, scheduled for March 27-28 at Firelake Bowl in Shawnee, Okla.
