PITTSBURG, Kan. (Feb. 12, 2021) –
Bryah Davis posted a career-best time in the 200 meters and
Payton Duesing did the same in the 600-yard run to highlight Oklahoma Christian's outing on the first night of the Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State (Kan.) at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Davis, a sophomore from Cedar Hill, Texas, finished eighth among 38 sprinters in the 200 with a time of 25.72 seconds, while her teammate,
Autumn Baldwin, was 36th in 27.68 seconds.
Duesing, a junior from Lantana, Texas, placed 10th of 13 runners in the 600 yards with a time of 1:31.65.
Two OC throwers recorded season-best marks in the weight throw.
Taelor Brown, a sophomore from Pawnee, Okla., placed sixth among 13 women with a top throw of 46 feet, 8 inches (14.23 meters), while
Nikkita Addy, a freshman from Moore, Okla., was 11th at 38 feet, 7 inches (11.78 inches).
In her first collegiate track and field competition, freshman
KynLey Burton of Pea Ridge, Ark. – who also plays on OC's new volleyball team – posted a mark of 5 feet, ¼ inch (1.53 meters) in the high jump, taking seventh among 13 jumpers. Junior
Morgan Ray of Edmond, Okla., went 16 feet, 1¾ inches (4.92 meters) in the long jump, placing 16th of 19 competitors.
The meet will continue on Saturday.
