LAS VEGAS (Dec. 20, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian stood in 10th place among 32 teams after the opening day of the Tier I Collegiate Shoot-Out late Monday at the South Point Bowling Arena.
After six team games, the Eagles had an overall score of 5,542. The top four teams will advance into the match-play portion of the tournament and OC trailed fourth-place Midland (Iowa) by 259 pins, with Wichita State leading the field at 6,248.
Teams will play 16 Baker games beginning at 3:20 p.m. Central (1:20 p.m. Pacific) on Tuesday, with those results added to the team scores accumulated on Monday, to determine the four teams that qualify for match play.
OC's highest individual finisher was sophomore
Morgan Pelkie of Sarnia, Ontario, who placed 21st with a score of 1,184 over the six games. She rolled three games of 200 or higher, with a top score of 244.
Freshman
Jordan Corbett of Owasso, Okla., finished 52nd with a score of 1,082, rolling a top game of 214. Two other Eagles each rolled a pair of 200 games – sophomore
Claire McDermott of Harrisburg, Ill. (with a high game of 213) and freshman
Shelby Davis of La Porte, Texas (with a high game of 233). Freshman
Liberty Pierce of Kingwood, Texas, had a high game of 199.
