LAS VEGAS (Dec. 19, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian's Sunday started with the Eagles in 15th place, seven spots out of advancing into match play in the Tier I Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational. It ended with a spirited – if unexpected – run into the semifinals.

In only three team games at South Point Bowling Arena, the Eagles overcame a 206-pin deficit and climbed eight spots in the 31-team field. Then seventh-seeded OC knocked off second-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) 3-1 in match play before falling to sixth-seeded Tennessee Southern 3-1 in the semifinals of one of collegiate bowling's top events.

In making up ground on the field, the Eagles posted team scores of 929, 1006, and 992. OC's rally included five games of 200 or higher, produced by four different bowlers. Sophomore Morgan Pelkie delivered a 256 en route to a 12th-place individual finish, with the sophomore from Sarnia, Ontario, posting an overall score of 1,767 over nine games.

Jordan Corbett, a freshman from Owasso,Okla., contributed a 231 in the final game. Freshman Liberty Pierce of Kingwood, Texas, had a 202, while Jessica Flanagan, a freshman from Lavaca, Ark., rolled a 265 and a 224. Only two of the Eagles' 15 individual game scores on Sunday was lower than a 172, helping the Eagles finish with an overall tournament score of 8,201. Wichita State had the top score of 9,158.

OC will begin another Tier I tournament – the Collegiate Shoot-Out – on Monday in the same venue.
