ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (Oct. 9, 2021) –
Brandon Heredia won two events and
J.T. Amrein and
Caleb Musser won one each, but Oklahoma Christian fell 144-113 to host Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) in a dual swimming meet on Saturday at Waggoner Pool.
Heredia, a junior from Maryville, Mo., took top honors in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.73) and 50 freestyle (21.35 seconds). OC freshman
Chase Fields of Tyler, Texas finished second behind Heredia in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.24.
Amrein, a freshman from Bonner Springs, Kan., set a pool record in winning the 100 breaststroke in 56.45 seconds. Musser, a freshman from Overland Park, Kan., won the 100 freestyle in 47.11 seconds.
The Eagles also won both relay races. In the 400 medley relay, Musser, Amrein, Fields and Heredia posted a time of 3:28.61. The quartet of
Dereck Montgomery, Musser,
Felix Berling and Heredia won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:25.97.
The Eagles now will point toward a meet at Southern Methodist on Oct. 30, which will include OC and a pair of NCAA Division I schools in SMU and Incarnate Word. Then they will gear up for the three-day Eagle Invitational, to be hosted by OC at the Mitch Park YMCA pool in Edmond, Okla., from Nov. 11-13.
