4 to join OC women’s bowling roster for 2020-21

(Clockwise from upper left) Jessica Flanagan, Kelli Stewart, Sarah Young and Maddie Reynolds will join OC's women's bowling team for the 2020-21 season.
OKLAHOMA CITY (July 3, 2020) – Four bowlers have signed to compete on Oklahoma Christian's women's bowling team for the 2020-21 season, OC coach James Hayes said Friday.

The newcomers will be Jessica Flanagan of Lavaca, Ark., Maddie Reynolds of Oklahoma City, Kelli Stewart of Augusta, Kan., and Sarah Young of North Richland Hills, Texas.

Flanagan twice won the Class 2A-1A individual prep title in her home state, taking home top honors as a sophomore and senior, rolling a 664 series in the state tournament the latter time. The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette named her as its bowler of the year for the 2019-20 season. She also starred in softball and volleyball at Lavaca High School.

Reynolds attended Putnam City North High School and was an All-State selection as a senior. She helped the Panthers to two straight Class 6A regional championships.

Stewart is a junior transfer from Cowley County (Kan.), where she was a juco teammate of current OC bowler Abbey Parks. During the 2018-19 season, she posted a 156.81 scoring average in 57 games for Cowley County and posted a top-10 individual finish at the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit Championships. She previously attended Augusta High School.

Young is a sophomore transfer from Prairie View A&M. Last season, she competed in two events for Prairie View, posting a scoring average of 155.25 over four games. She is a three-time Texas Grand Prix tournament champion and was a member of the 2018 all-tournament team for the Texas State District Championships for Birdville High School.

Flanagan, Reynolds, Stewart and Young will join nine returning bowlers on the OC roster – Parks, a senior, along with juniors Hannah Hayhurst, Taylore Ryan and Halley Schanaman and sophomore Jade Garcia, Claire McDermott, Morgan Pelkie, Emily Tripp and Athena Walker.

The Eagles will open their season Oct. 10 in the SWIBC I tournament in Fort Worth, Texas.
