OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 1, 2020) – Four newcomers, including two of the top three-rated recruits from Kansas, have signed with Oklahoma Christian during the current signing period, OC coach Josh Davis said Tuesday.

Joining the Eagles for the 2021-22 season will be J.T. Amrein of Bonner Springs, Kan., Caleb Musser of Overland Park, Kan., Riley Taylor of Atlantis, Fla., and Jacob Rivera of Decatur, Texas.

Amrein, who swims for St. James Academy and Kansas City Swim Academy, won the Kansas 5-1A title in the 200-yard individual medley (1:53.13) and the 100 breaststroke (56.04 seconds) in 2020 and is a six-time Kansas 5-1A state finalist. He earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-America honors in 2019 and is ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the Sunflower State. When he was 9, he beat Davis – a five-time Olympic medalist – in a race during a clinic conducted by the current OC coach.

Musser, who competes in club swimming for Empire KC Swim Club, is No. 3 on that list. Swimming for Blue Valley Northwest High School, Musser was a Kansas Class 6A finalist in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in 2020, finishing third in both events. He'll swim in those events, along with the 200 freestyle, at OC.

Taylor competes for Kings Academy and Flood Aquatics Swim Team in his home state. He qualified for the Florida Class 1A state meet in 2017 and 2018 and was a 50 backstroke finalist in 2019 in the Florida Gold Coast Senior Long Course Championships. He'll swim shorter freestyle events as well as backstroke events at OC.

Swimming for Decatur High School, Rivera was a Texas Class 5A regional finalist in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle in 2019. He competed in club swimming for Lakeside Aquatic Club.
