INDIANAPOLIS (May 8, 2019) – Despite losing two of three games at Rogers State this past weekend, Oklahoma Christian remained in the NCAA Division II South Central Region baseball ranking released Wednesday at No. 8, falling only one spot.
OC (28-20) didn't qualify for the Heartland tournament, finishing one win shy of making the four-team field, but the Eagles might still have a slim shot at making the six-team field for the South Central Region tournament. The tournament qualifiers will be determined after the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference complete their tournaments this weekend.
OC did win the overall season series from Rogers State three games to two. The Eagles were seventh in the region ranking last week but moved behind Arkansas-Fort Smith, which had been eighth last week but won a three-game series at Newman (Kan.) to close the regular season.
The Eagles have been as high as fifth in the region ranking this season.
Angelo State (Texas) (42-8) topped this week's ranking, followed by Colorado Mesa (41-9), Lubbock Christian (Texas) (35-13), Colorado Mines (36-11), West Texas A&M (39-10), Dixie State (Utah) (33-17), Arkansas-Fort Smith (26-17) and OC.
The regional field will be announced at 9 p.m. Central time on Sunday.
