16-game schedule set for Eagles’ 1st season in Lone Star

Sebastian Capkovic and the Eagles will begin their 2019 season on Sept. 5.
OKLAHOMA CITY (May 23, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's first men's soccer season as a member of the Lone Star Conference will include 16 games against mostly familiar opponents, OC coach David Scott said Thursday.

The LSC's current men's soccer programs – Eastern New Mexico, West Texas A&M, Midwestern State (Texas) and Texas-Permian Basin – joined the Heartland Conference as affiliate members for the 2016 season. OC will continue to play each of them, along with other Heartland foes that also are moving into the LSC, under the LSC banner starting in 2019.

The Eagles will open the season with a pair of home games against local rivals who are Great American Conference members – Southern Nazarene on Sept. 5 and Oklahoma Baptist on Sept. 7.

OC's first road game will be at former Heartland member Rogers State – which is moving into the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association – on Sept. 12. Another MIAA squad, national power Northeastern State, will visit OC on Sept. 14.

The Eagles will play LSC foe Dallas Baptist (Texas) in a nonconference road game on Sept.21 before opening its 10-game league slate on Sept. 26 at Midwestern State, which reached the second round of the NCAA Division II tournament last season. LSC road games against Texas-Permian Basin on Oct. 3 and Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Oct. 5 will follow.

OC will open a four-game homestand against a first-time opponent, Texas-Tyler, on Oct. 12. Texas-Tyler is moving from NCAA Division III into Division II and the Lone Star. The Eagles will host Midwestern State in a nonconference game on Oct. 17 before facing league foes St. Mary's (Texas) on Oct. 24 and Texas A&M International on Oct. 26.

The Eagles' final road trip of the regular season will take them to Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 31 and West Texas A&M on Nov. 2. OC will close the campaign with home games against Dallas Baptist on Nov. 7 and St. Edward's (Texas) on Nov. 9.

The Lone Star's postseason tournament will begin on Nov. 12.
