COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 3, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's men's swimming team finished its 2018-19 season at No. 23 in points in the NCAA Division II championship ranking, according to the website CollegeSwimming.com.
The Eagles, in their second season of competition, finished the season with an overall score of 614.08 points. The point total is determined through a formula that uses times posted by a team's top four performers in each individual event as well as a team's best times in five common relay races (the 200-yard freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, 800 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay).
OC's top five individual performances this season, in order, were freshman
Brandon Heredia in the 200 freestyle (1:39.13), Heredia in the 100 freestyle (44.34 seconds), sophomore
Noah Woollweever in the 100 backstroke (48.81 seconds), sophomore
Zac Hawes in the 100 breaststroke (55.86 seconds) and freshman
Bergen Davis in the 200 backstroke (1:47.85).
The Eagles, coached by
Josh Davis, were fourth among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference programs, behind No. 8 Colorado Mesa (694.21 points), No. 18 Oklahoma Baptist (640.25 points) and No. 22 Colorado Mines (614.96 points).
In the Division II dual ranking, OC placed No. 28 with 674.85 points, with Colorado Mesa No. 17 with 730.45 points, Oklahoma Baptist No. 19 with 717.20 points and Colorado Mines No. 29 with 672.95 points.
