GOLDEN, Colo. (April 1, 2019) – After a week at No. 7, Oklahoma Christian moved back up to No. 6 in the South Central Region rankings released Monday by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
The Eagles have been ranked sixth or seventh in six of the seven regular-season region polls in 2019. Three sports information directors from each of the region's three leagues – the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences – vote in the poll. OC wasn't listed in the preseason poll.
Last week, OC won 8-5 at Central Oklahoma – giving them a season series win over the Bronchos for the first time since the Eagles moved into NCAA Division II – then took two of three games from visiting Texas A&M International. OC beat TAMIU 7-5 in the opener and fell 11-9 before rebounding to win the series finale 9-3 to improve to 20-8 on the season.
After a home game Tuesday against archrival Southern Nazarene, the Eagles will host Lubbock Christian (Texas), which rose a spot to No. 4 in this week's region poll, for a key Heartland series on Friday and Saturday.
