OKLAHOMA CITY (March 5, 2019) –
Gabe Rodery's stellar performance in a win over Rogers State earned the Oklahoma Christian left-hander recognition on Tuesday as the Heartland Conference baseball pitcher of the week.
Rodery, a junior from Verdigris, wasn't bothered by a game-time temperature of 29 degrees on Friday as he led OC to a 4-0 win over the Hillcats, hurling a complete-game four-hit shutout against a squad ranked eighth in the South Central Region as the Eagles swept a doubleheader.
In the win, Rodery recorded 10 strikeouts – five of those looking – and walked none, allowing only two runners to advance as far as third base. In 24 innings this season, Rodery has a 1.50 ERA, second-best in the Heartland among starting pitchers, and 33 strikeouts, third-highest in the league.
The Heartland pitcher-of-the-week award was the first of Rodery's career.
