Eagles jump in South Central Region baseball poll

Callen Crockett and the Eagles are up to No. 6 in this week's South Central Region poll.
GOLDEN, Colo. (March 4, 2019) – After a 3-0 week, Oklahoma Christian took a three-spot jump to No. 6 in the latest South Central Region poll by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

OC is 10-2 after beating Cameron 17-7 on Monday and Heartland Conference rival Rogers State 4-0 and 5-3 on Friday. The Eagles weren't listed in the preseason region poll but debuted at No. 7 two weeks ago, then dropped to ninth last week before moving back up this week.

Three sports information directors from each of the three leagues that make up the NCAA Division II region – the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences – vote in the poll, which is released each Monday during the season.

OC owns wins this season over a pair of teams – Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist – that made last year's NCAA Division II tournament, while Rogers State was No. 8 in last week's region poll before dropping the doubleheader to the Eagles.

Colorado Mesa (12-2) led the poll with 88 points, receiving seven first-place votes. West Texas A&M (16-3) received the other two first-place votes and had 83 points. Colorado Mines (9-2) was third with 65 points, followed by Angelo State (Texas) (14-4) with 59 points and Dixie State (Utah) (10-4) with 47 points.

OC received 41 points to land in sixth. After that came Texas A&M-Kingsville (9-4) with 40 points, Lubbock Christian (Texas) (10-5) with 35 points, Arkansas-Fort Smith (10-4) with 15 points and Rogers State (11-4) with 14 points.

OC is scheduled to visit archrival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday before traveling to play at Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday and Saturday.
